Simple Kitchen Remodel that will Wow your guests and your pockets

As an interior designer- I know first hand the importance of a functional yet appealing kitchen design can be. Especially in terms of selling/buying a home; this will most likely make or break the deal all together. This brings me to my next client who had a challenging budget yet was in dire need of a kitchen remodel.

I received a call from a prospective client, who were in the market for interior design assistance to spruce up her home. After our initial consult -followed by our virtual home consult (this option worked best for my clients busy schedule); we were able to hone in on the "gray area" as I like to call it of the home. This is where there is negative energy flow of the home. For my client-her gray area was in fact her kitchen. Check out the picture-Am I wrong? LOL

As you can see the first thing I noticed were the oak cabinets and I immediately recommended the easiest yet budget friendly solution to give her kitchen a face-lift= MILK PAINT. With option to do so with milk paint or chalk paint powder- my client chose to use Milk paint by General Finishes in Seagull Gray color. **Don't worry I will explain how to use chalk paint in my instructions below also**. Both paint products are no prep and no priming products. BBFrosch Chalk Paint Powder allows you to turn any flat latex paint into chalk paint.

**We also suggested new flooring to bring cabinets to life!!**

Here's how we accomplished this look

Simple Step-by-step Instructions:

1) First and foremost, Clean your surfaces. A simple degreaser on cabinets will do just fine.

2) Use your Milk paint or Mix your Chalk Paint (in a squeeze bottle, mix 2 tablesponns BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder with 1 tablespoon water, then swirl/swish around until it has a glaze consistency. Then Add 8oz of latex paint and put the cap on and Shake well)

3) Apply an even coat of paint with paint brush. FYI-Chalk paint dries quickly.

4) Apply Second coat evenly

5) Apply Third coat- making sure to cover thin spots well. Allow paint to dry thoroughly (around 30-60min).

6) Lightly sand to smooth out the paint wih 200 grit sand paper(if using Chalk Paint)

7)Wipe off all the dust and apply wax/sealer. FYI-A little goes along way. Then buff with a wax cloth. **The more you Buff the more it Shines**

8) To up the wow factor-Change out old door handles/knobs with brass hardware finishes or your own flare of fashion. Have fun with it!
